Target Species Acquired
Robbie, Steve, Mike and I had a well full of live bait this day. I was able to get out early and gather some up before our midmorning departure. The ocean was friendly so we scooted around on a gorgeous ocean and caught several chunky bonitos and a few Spanish mackerel that were feeding on the surface. When the tide was right we got into the target species. They big reds were biting on croakers and we caught several, getting a bite or a fish on just about every cast.. These guys really impressed me with their smooth hook setting and their patient angling of these hard fighting, drag sceaming fish. I wonder how many we would have caught if that nasty approaching storm had not caused us to hurry back to the dock. Oh well, we had a great outing and got home before mother nature unleashed an afternoon downpour.
