Brothers Outlast a Sweet Cobia
Corey, Josh and I went out to the reef for some fishing Friday morning. The fish finder was lit up with fish as I set anchor and deployed the chum bag. Almaco jacks were swarming the boat for hours and the brothers wore them out. It was exciting to look down in the water and watch them swim by. Often times when we would bring a fish up, his buddies would follow him to the surface. Occasionally we'd see fish in the shadows that we couldn't quite make out. I threw a whole squid in front of a bigger shadow one time and he gobbled it down. Corey grabbed the pole and the fight was on with medium spinning gear. Twenty minutes later the gaff finally sunk into the sweet cobia below. What a drag squeeling battle it was. Corey fought him like a pro. Below is the brothers with the cobia and Josh holding one of the Almaco jacks.
