What in the world is on the end of the line?
Jenni and Ed from Montana had a great time fishing yesterday. I am always happy when people appreciate the simple beauty of a fishing experience. Jenni was a taxidermist and was in awe of the colors and features of all the species of fish we caught, not to mention all the wildlife. We caught blue fish, Spanish mackerel, jacks, blue runners, speckled trout and more. Here’s a pic of Jenni with a Spanish mackerel.
Near the end of the morning charter, Jenni hooks something that bends her pole and screams across the water. Jenni fought this beast for 1 hour with her light spinning rod doubled over! I couldn’t believe how she concentrated and fought so hard on the monster. She kept saying “I am not giving up!”.
Well, finally she brought the behemoth to the surface. It was a giant Spotted Eagle Ray. What a cool beast. It must have had a 5 foot wing span. We were so happy that we were able to see what it was, because losing it would have haunted us for a long while. We had no idea until the last 5 minutes of the fight what it was. I bet she’ll be sore for a while. Congrats on an awesome fight Jenni!
