Just the Right Size
We could see the commotion from a half mile away. The fish were feeding in the shallows up next to the mangroves. As we got within casting range of the fish with the trolling motor we could tell they were decent size and they were really hungry. The first few casts were uneventful but then the mullet erupted and I threw my Rapala Skitterwalk into the melee and twitched it. The red swirled and inhaled it and then squealed around the flats like a fish twice his size. Good thing he wasn’t any bigger. He made it in the slot limit and was invited home for a blackened redfish dinner.
