Almost Fooled by a Lovely Snook

We had another great morning of snook fishing. The beautiful lady photographed with me swallowed a big croaker. After the bite and a quick run, I thought for sure I felt her pull loose, so I cursed and let my line go limp and turned away to talk about what it felt like. When I finally wound my line in, it slowly tightened and then started screaming towards open water. She had been on the hook the whole time! The snook proceeded to put up an awesome fight. I had to let her run long and fast many times due to using light tackle. I felt a little embarrassed about my angling mistake but I got over that pretty quick when the husky lady came aboard. As the old saying goes “I’d rather be lucky than good any day”. We released her gently and told her to go make some babies. I hope to see her again this fall as she travels up in the river to her winter haunts.

This blog is dedicated to my wife Snooker who inspires me everyday without using a word.
