Last Second Wahoo

It is near the end of the fishing day when Tom, Ken and I had to decide when to "run for the scales" for the Blue Water Open Fishing Tournament. We had two weighable dolphins so Tom decides we must reel in our lines and head home at 3:30 to make the weigh in. So we are trolling down a nice weed line in 150' and my fish instincts are telling me we are going to get bit. At 3:29 I look at my watch and reluctantly start winding some lines in. I always leave what I think is the best bait in the water till last. You see I am an eternal optimist when it comes to fishing but this stroke of luck amazed even me. You guessed it. At the last possible second the last rod doubled over and blazed the drag. Even luckier, it was a wahoo that is a coveted fish to eat and quite likely could win some money in the tournament. What a great ride home it was as we measured our luck and thought about possible tournament winnings. Fishing adventures never cease to amaze me with their surprises and coincidences. Well, the wahoo made the leader board for a while but was eventually bumped. Oh well, it was a sweet day of fishing with good friends and the fish fry the next day was awesome.
