Robbie, Steve, Mike and I had a well full of live bait this day. I was able to get out early and gather some up before our midmorning departure. The ocean was friendly so we scooted around on a gorgeous ocean and caught several chunky bonitos and a few Spanish mackerel that were feeding on the surface. When the tide was right we got into the target species. They big reds were biting on croakers and we caught several, getting a bite or a fish on just about every cast.. The
Jamin whipped a slot snook this morning, It blew up on the finger mullet right on the corner post of the dock and immediately wrapped around it. Jamin leaned on him and turned him back towards open water and the snook ripped off drag in the right direction. It was great to get a keeper snook in the boat. We also hooked a couple tarpon that put on a nice show. We got out in the ocean a bit later on and sweetened the deal with a mess of spanish mackerel. It was a fun m
It’s amazing how people celebrating birthdays have such good luck when fishing. Tim was no exception. He had a live grunt on the bottom when the pole twitched. Tim picked up the rod, wound tight on it and the pole doubled over. I thought it must have been a snag at first but the violent head shakes gave the fish away. Then the big girl bull dogged across the bottom ripping drag. Then it quickly started to rise to the surface and I started hoping, cobia. When it showed i
We had caught a few giant jack crevalles drifting with croakers when we noticed the mullet start moving down the shoreline. I threw the net and we had 50 beautiful finger mullet in the well. It was fun to see Dave, Kelly and Mike pitching the live mullets around and getting hammered by fish. I love the noise when a fish destroys a live mullet on the surface. It was a fun day of fishing for sure.
I did a quick fishing trip with wife and friends yesterday. What a sweet site to see when Todd brought this cobia into the boat early on. The rest of the trip was gravy as we cruised around on glassy seas and caught a few other fish and made it a short day. Wow, that cobia dinner was good. Way to jig that cobia up Todd!
